The short version

Who we are

MySet (myset.vip) lets an audience vote from their own phones on what an artist plays next. It is run by Idyll Enterprises in Johnson City, Tennessee, USA. For anything on this page, email hello@myset.vip.

If you're in the audience

No account needed, ever. When you open an artist's page, your phone makes up a random ID and keeps it in its own storage, so the page knows your votes are yours. It isn't linked to your name, number or email. Clear your browser's site data and your phone forgets it.

Your network. We read your internet address to stop one script from flooding a show, but we never store the address itself, only a scrambled code made from it.

Votes. Tonight's votes are wiped when the artist's next show starts; votes you paid for and didn't use carry over. We keep a permanent count of what was voted for, with your phone's ID scrambled beyond recovery.

Tips, paid votes and song requests. Stripe handles the payment on the artist's own Stripe account. Stripe collects your email and card; we never see the card. We keep the amount, the time, the show and any note you add (up to 120 characters). The artist can see your email and note, so they can say thanks or sort out a problem.

Merch. If an item ships, Stripe asks for your name, email and address. They stay at Stripe and are shown to the artist only when they open your order to send it. We keep the order itself: what, how many, and a pickup code. We don't ask for a phone number.

Things you choose to post. RSVPs are stored against a scrambled ID with no name. Star ratings and notes (up to 400 characters) go to the artist. Community posts carry the name you type, your words, and any photos or short clip you add. Shop wishes and birthday shout-outs carry the name you type. If you report a bug, we get your note, the page, your browser type and the recent errors.

Booking an artist. The Book page sends the artist your name and your event: the date, the place, the kind of event, the guests, songs and a note. Your email and phone are kept from the artist until the night is booked, and your phone until 48 hours before it. If the artist is busy that night they may pass your request to another act on MySet: we write to tell you, and that act sees it on the same terms. Nothing is booked unless you accept their quote. When you accept a quote we keep the name you typed, the time, the version of the booking terms and a scrambled form of your network address, as the record of the agreement. Your card is handled by Stripe and kept by Stripe for the balance; we never see its number.

Location. The home page can suggest your city. Your location is compared on your phone; nothing is sent to us or stored.

Cookies. You get none, with or without a Fan Studio. Your phone's own storage also keeps small preferences: light or dark, sort order, your city, your recent orders.

If you make a Fan Studio

It's optional. Voting, tipping, buying votes, asking for a song, reviewing a night and buying merch all work without one.

Your account. Your email, to sign you in with a 6-digit code (it expires after 10 minutes). The name and handle you choose, and if you add them, a photo, your city and a few words about you. Artists and other fans see your name, handle, photo and city where you appear; never your email.

Who you follow. Following an artist or a venue makes you one of their fans. They see how many fans they have. We keep which accounts follow them, never your email or anything about how you voted. An artist or venue can choose to show who follows them: then anyone can see your name, @handle and photo in their list of fans, never your email or who else you follow. Me → Keep who I follow to myself takes you out of every such list. The artist or venue is told when you start following them.

Notifications. Your Fan Studio has a bell: replies to your messages, new shows from artists you follow, replies to your posts in a fan forum, your memberships. We keep the newest 200 for up to 180 days, with the first words of each message, and you choose under Me → Notifications which ones you get, in the app, on your phone and by email. If you turn on alerts on your phone, your browser's push service gives us an address to send them to; signing that phone out, or deleting your Fan Studio, stops them.

Your activity. While you're signed in, your phone can bring things into your Fan Studio: the nights you voted at and how many votes, tips, votes and merch you paid for (the artist and the amount, never your card), and reviews you posted, with a copy of your words. To prove it was there, your phone shows us its random ID; we check it and don't keep it with your account. Artists can't see your Fan Studio or what you voted for.

What your phone did before. Once a day we file what each phone did on MySet (the same lines as above: nights, payments, reviews) under a scrambled form of that phone's random ID, never the ID itself. When you sign in to a Fan Studio, we show you what we found for that phone and ask whether it looks right. Nothing is added to your Fan Studio unless you say yes, and you can untick anything that isn't yours. What you keep is never shown to anyone else who signs in on that phone.

Messages. You can write to an artist or venue (it lands in their inbox, with your name and @handle, never your email; they may get an email with the start of it, as with any message on MySet) or to another fan by their @handle. A fan you haven't talked to waits under Requests until you answer. You can block anyone who writes to you (a fan, an artist or a venue) and unblock them from Messages → Blocked; they aren't told. You can report any conversation; a report sends us which conversation it was, not the words. When someone writes, we may email you that they did — never what they said.

On your phone. Your sign-in is kept in your phone's own storage. Signing out removes it.

Leaving. Me → Delete my Fan Studio signs you out everywhere and closes your Fan Studio in 30 days. Sign in again before then and you can keep it. On the 30th day your page, @handle, photo, who you follow and your message list are removed. A conversation stays with the artist, venue or fan you wrote to (that is their copy), shown as from a former fan. Reviews you posted stay on the artist's page under the name you typed there; ask us to remove them. Me → Download my data gives you everything first.

What we keep after you leave. We keep your name, email, city and history (the nights, payments and reviews in your Fan Studio). We use them to understand who comes to live music on MySet, and to tell you about MySet. If we email you about MySet after you've left, every email lets you stop them. To have all of it erased for good, email hello@myset.vip from that address and we will.

If you're an artist or a venue

Your account. Your email; your page (name, bio, photos, links, gigs, songs, setlists, merch, tour, diary); your business numbers; and how you sign in: a 6-digit code by email (it expires after 10 minutes), a password (stored only as a one-way hash), a passkey or recovery codes.

Signed-in devices. We record the kind of device (say, "iPhone · Safari") so you can sign one out. We don't keep its internet address. Your account shows its last 100 security events.

Getting paid. Stripe verifies your identity and holds your bank details. We keep your Stripe account ID and the money records you see in the Studio.

The verified tick. You type your legal name and date of birth to be checked. We never store the date of birth; the name and the ID photo are deleted once the check is decided.

Alerts. If you turn on notifications, your browser's push service gives us an address to send them to. Signing out of a device stops them.

Our own records. We may keep a private spreadsheet of accounts (email, plan, country, show counts and ratings) to run the business.

The help button

Every Studio has a help button. What you type there goes to Anthropic's Claude, which writes the answer from MySet's own guide. It can't see your account or change anything.

Your conversations stay on your phone for 30 days, under "Your past questions". Signing out clears them, and so does "Clear".

What we keep. Each question and its answer, without your name or account, with any email address or phone number taken out, so we can see what people ask and make help better. If you typed something personal into a question, email us and we'll remove it.

If you write to us. The help window also has "Write to MySet". Unlike a question, a message is not anonymous: it is an email to hello@myset.vip that carries what you wrote, the email address you give us to reply to, which Studio and screen you were on, your plan and your account's ID, so we can help you. We keep it in our support mailbox like any email, and nowhere else. You can ask us to delete it by writing to the same address.

Sample pages

To show an artist or venue what MySet would look like for them, we sometimes build a sample page before they've signed up, from what they've already made public:

We never scrape Instagram, Facebook or TikTok pages. A sample page isn't listed anywhere on MySet: we send its link to the artist, and we see when it's opened.

If nobody claims it within six months of when we send you the link, the page comes down and we keep a private copy: so we can bring it back if you ask, so we never build you a second one, and so we learn which pages artists want. Want it gone now? Reply to our message or email us: we take the page down for good, never build you another and never message you again. We keep a private record of it, never shown to anyone, so that promise holds.

When we contact you

When we reach out to an artist or venue, we keep a contact record: the name, email, phone and social handles you've made public, our notes, and the messages between us. It stays until you ask us to delete it.

Gmail and other Google data

MySet's outreach desk can connect the founder's own Gmail account. It is the only Gmail account MySet connects; nobody else is ever asked to connect theirs.

MySet's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Gmail data is used only to show and send that outreach email. It is never used for advertising, never sold, never used to train AI models, and never read by anyone but the account's owner.

Pages that show a map load Google Maps in your browser, under Google's privacy policy.

How long we keep things

Tonight's votesUntil the artist's next show starts.
Sign-in codes10 minutes.
RSVPs3 days after the night.
Unclaimed sample pageSix months live from when we send you the link, then a private copy.
A deleted account30 days to change your mind, then erased.
A deleted Fan Studio30 days to change your mind. Then the page closes, and your name, email, city and history are kept until you ask us to erase them.
Notifications (the bell, any Studio)The newest 200, none older than 180 days; they go with the account.
What a phone did, before a Fan StudioThe most recent lines for each phone, until someone signs in on it and keeps them, or six months after that phone was last at a MySet night.
Payments and ordersAs long as the account exists, because they are the artist's books. Stripe keeps its own records as the law requires.
BookingsThe request, the quotes, the messages, the agreement and its payments: as long as the artist's account exists, as the record of both sides' agreement and the artist's books.
Help button questionsYour conversations: 30 days on your phone. Our copy of each question, without a name or account: until you ask us to remove it.
Ratings, posts, contact recordsUntil you, the artist or the venue asks us to remove them.
BackupsWe keep backups so a failure can't wipe anyone's history. A deletion doesn't reach into them by itself; ask, and we'll erase you from them too.

Your choices

Keeping it safe

Everything travels encrypted. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, and sign-in keys for other services are encrypted at rest. Access to the data is limited to the people who run MySet.

Children

MySet isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anything about them. If you think we have, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

When this page changes, the date at the top changes. If a change matters to account holders, we'll tell them in the Studio.
